Welcome to the New Mexico Hispanic Medical Association (NMHMA) website. The NMHMA was established in 1989 and continues its work to make healthcare more accessible to all New Mexicans. We negotiate medical discounts on behalf of the uninsured by offering the New Mexico Medical Card. We also organize health fairs, free clinics, and provide mentoring opportunities that encourage students to consider a career in healthcare. If you are a current or prospective member, you can now renew your membership or become a member online by visiting the Membership Tab.This year’s Feria de Salud was held on Saturday April 16th, 2011 at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Thousands of community members attended and received doctor consultations, immunizations, glaucoma screenings, hearing screenings, dementia screenings, and many other health services. Special thanks to the over 30 doctors, nurses, and other practitioners that volunteered to provide these important services to the uninsured and underserved. There was also entertainment and fun activities for the whole family. We thank Presbyterian Healthcare Services and Univision Television for being the Presenting Sponsors of this event. On August 28, 2011 we hosted our annual CME meeting "Perspectives in Minority Health: Topics in Primary Care". We had a excellent turnout. On that same evening we held our Dinner Program. A keynote address was given by Dr. Christopher Urbina, four deserving students received scholarship awards, and guests danced the night away.
