Welcome to the New Mexico Hispanic Medical Association (NMHMA) website. The NMHMA was established in 1989 and continues its work to make healthcare more accessible to all New Mexicans. We negotiate medical discounts on behalf of the uninsured. We organize health fairs, free clinics, and provide mentoring opportunities that encourage students to consider a career in healthcare. If you are a current or prospective member, you can now renew your membership or become a member online by visiting the Membership Tab.

Our annual Continuing Medical Education Meeting Perspectives in Minority Health: Emerging Treatment Options for Substance Use Disorder will take place August 20, 2016. Please click here to see the flyer and get information on registration and accommodations. You can also go to www.2016nmhmacme.eventbrite.com to register.

A Taste of Diversity & Silent Auction will also take place on August 20, 2016 beginning at 6:00 PM at Sandia Conference Center. A Taste of Diversity is an annual event celebrating the richness of diversity and its contribution to discovery in the health sciences. The New Mexico Hispanic Medical Association continues to support a diverse healthcare workforce by providing scholarships to medical students from many backgrounds. We will recognize four students on this night. With the spirit of diversity in mind, we’ll share foods from around the world. This year we’re featuring Spain, Greece, Panama, and Antigua. You’ll also have the opportunity to win trips to these far off places. Come join us for this fun night of celebration! Please go to www.atasteofdiversity2016.eventbrite.com to get tickets or sponsor a table for this exciting event.

We have monthly Board meetings and we encourage you to attend. Click on Calendar of Events 2016 to learn the dates and times of our meetings and other special events. Please take some time to learn a little bit more about the work that we do by visiting the other tabs on our website. We look forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at 505 328-1391 or via email at stlucero7@gmail.com.

Respectfully,

Steve Lucero,
Executive Director
